Our midtown based client who provides high-end eCommerce solutions for global retailers is looking for a Sales Engineer.
Job Description
The candidate will be responsible for understanding and documenting customer business requirements for multi-channel eCommerce platform implementation. This role is also responsible for responding to inbound RFI/RFP requests, managing all aspects of companys response to these inquiries.
Will also be involved in critical, client-facing projects and has a major impact on the cost, timeliness and effectiveness of those projects.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver the business requirements and business specification phases of systems projects to:
- ensure the customers business objectives are clearly identified;
- ensure the customers business needs are met in terms of platform functionality and processing;
- prepare and support business requirements and specification workshops;
- determine and prepare business requirements and specifications, resulting in clear and precise documentation;
- analyze existing business and systems functionality to maximize the reuse of existing processes.
Knowledge and Skills
Basic Skills:
- Knowledge of the systems development life cycle.
- Knowledge of the business project life cycle.
- Knowledge of the clients market place, products and future strategy.
- Knowledge of a structured systems analysis and design methodology.
- Knowledge of a business process modeling methodology.
- MS Office Suite including Visio.
Critical Skills:
- Excellent analytic skills are required to shorten project time and cost through the rapid development and agreement of business requirements.
- Must communicate effectively at any level, generally at management level, both internally and externally. The type of communication is varied and can involve coordinating information, negotiating and answering queries.
- Ability to systematically decompose large, disparate, complex requirements into concrete elements for the development team to work on.
- Within any project the ability to think wider so that systems can be reused and to reduce project cost.
- Great flexibility and versatility in communication skills are required to enable production of highly detailed technical documents for systems and easily comprehensible documents for customers.
- Excellent judgment and initiative required.
- Frequently required to deal with problems and handle situations where there are no clear guidelines
Education and Experience:
- Educated to at least degree level or equivalent
- At least three years experience working with internet businesses
- At least three years of technical writing experience for pre-sales scoping (including Use Cases, System Diagrams, Interaction Diagrams, Decision Trees, Sequence Diagrams)
- At least three years eCommerce experience for/with Retail Operations
