Network Engineer- VOIP in NEW YORK, NY

The VoIP Network Engineer will be responsible for understanding complex Softswitch platforms and applications, analyzing product requirements, and developing, implementing and performing of day-to-day operational activities of VoIP network solutions. This individual will be able to leverage internal and external technologies in order to develop cost effective solutions for products.<p>



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide strategic, proactive leadership inside the company and the industry in the timely development of quality VoIP network solutions.
Translate complex business problems for voice and data products into technology solutions that meet the internal/external drivers and requirements. <p>
Conduct network analysis, create system level requirements from business requirements and produce process designs. <br>
Create schedules and tracking/status reports detailing project process, issues, risks, etc.<br>
Will communicate with customers and internal groups in order to design solutions and resolve problems. <br>
Provide subject matter expertise throughout the lifecycle of development projects by coordinating the alignment of processes and system changes, as well as estimating levels of effort for work requests (analysis, design, development and testing). <br>
Maintain an excellent working knowledge of new trends and technical developments in the field. Determine the appropriateness of equipment changes/modifications and evaluate the feasibility of new network service offerings. <p>

Experience: Possess a minimum of six years experience in telecommunication, with proven technical project management in converged networks. <p>


Strong Telecommunications background, preferably with telephony and SoftSwitch emphasis, Nextone experience a plus. <p>
VoIP systems exposure, with knowledge of the following protocols utilized in such systems: SIP, RTP, SMTP, SNMP, security and encryption techniques <p>
Working knowledge of UNIX/Solaris, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Linux <br>
Knowledge of Web Servers, IP Networks, and PSTN interfaces <p>

Position requires: a broad background and knowledge of telecommunications (VoIP and IP), with a minimum of three years VoIP protocol experience (H.323 and SIP). Excellent knowledge of PSTN technology (SS7, PRI) and IP networking (Cisco, firewalls VPN, NAT, routing) is essential, as well as proven experience designing, documenting, and implementing TDM and VoIP network elements and trunking. <p>
