Java Programmer in Albany, NY

UNIVERSAL Technologies is recruiting for a Java Programmer to join our Albany, NY team. The successful candidate will assist in support and maintenance of the recently deployed systems and in the development of enhancements to achieve full application functionality. In addition, the Java Programmer will assist in replacing outdated mainframe Vital Records applications with newer open web based solutions. The specific tasks include maintenance and development programming; application promotion through development, test, and production environments; server side script enhancement and deployment; developing test plans; documenting business rules and requirements; participation in application testing; and end-user support.

To be considered for the position, candidates must possess the following skills and experiences:

  • Minimum of 4 years experience with writing application software, data analysis, data access, data structures, data manipulation, databases, programming, testing and implementation, technical and user documentation, software conversions; environments include but are not limited to mainframe, mid range, personal computers, laptop; available to assist and/or lead in the design of program specifications and the implementation of software solutions.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in developing and deploying applications in a J2EE application server environment.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in Enterprise Java Development (J2EE) including: JDBC, Java Servlets, Java Server Pages (.jsp), JavaScript, Enterprise Java Beans, Secure Socket Layers (SSL), cookies, 128-bit encryption.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in Oracle 8i (or above) SQL databases.

Candidates with the following desirable experience will be considered first:

  • Experience in software development in Web applications and maintenance programming.
  • Experience in developing / maintaining BEA WebLogic applications.
  • Experience in translating business needs into system requirements and documentation.
  • Experience in object oriented design (OOD)
  • Experience in automated regression tools.
  • Experience using a Struts framework.
  • Experience using the Java "Swing" library of GUI controls.
  • Experience in developing use cases.
