UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking an SQL Database Administrator to join our Brooklyn, NY Team. The successful candidate will provide overall Database Architecture, Design, Support and Maintenance for WEB based and Client/Server Enterprise Applications in the Intranet & Internet settings on a Microsoft, IBM and CISCO Infrastructure Platform utilizing RAID, SAN, and Cluster technology. Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Architect, Design, Install, configure, Support, troubleshoot and maintain MS SQL 2000 and 2005 Enterprise Databases in a Storage Area Network and clustered Server environment
- Install, configure, troubleshoot & support IIS application servers.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot and support MS Windows 2000 and 2003 Server Operating system software environments.
- Plan, configure and conduct daily/weekly database backups and periodic recovery.
- Monitor SQL server activity on a proactive basis; make adjustments as necessary to assure tuned performance. Make load balancing adjustments as necessary.
- Administer user accounts, monitor security, control and authenticate user certificates, and support user authentication & passwords across multiple environments - Development, QA, Staging, and Production.
- Maintain error and system maintenance logs and issue reports on a regular basis.
- Perform, Monitor, Troubleshoot Daily Complex ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) using FTP, Command Scripts, Task Scheduler, BCP, and DTSRUN.
- Architect, Design, Install, configure, Support, troubleshoot and maintain BizTalk and XML based complex ETL for Daily Data Refresh of a large amount of Data
- Application development support for Query Optimization, Stored Procedures, Triggers, Indexes etc. for multiple Development groups.
To be considered for the position, candidates must possess the following skills and experiences:
- A minimum of six (6) years software/hardware technical support experience as a Database Administrator, supporting multiple Web Intel servers in a Microsoft Windows 2000, 20003 and MS SQL 2000 database environment
- Experience maintaining and supporting MS SQL databases
- Experience conducting daily and weekly database backups using Legato software
- Experience with Data Security, Data Confidentiality, Data Access Privilege management, web security and issuance of digital certificates.
- Strong knowledge of MS SQL 2000 and 2005 and preferably Oracle RDBMS 8.0
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Biztalk 2004 0r 2006
- Solid working knowledge and experience with IIS.
- Solid working knowledge of MS Windows 2K Advanced Server and/or Data Center Server.
- Good knowledge of Federated Databases, Log Shipping, Remote/Linked Server configuration, Data modeling using Visio, ER Studio etc.
- Firm knowledge of BizTalk Server and XML technology
- Firm knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
- Strong knowledge of Browsers and applet viewers Netscape & Internet Explorer 5.6.
- Excellent oral & written communication skills.
- Possess an undergraduate degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
Candidates with the following desired skills and experiences will be considered first:
- Knowledge of MQ Series desirable
- MCDBA or MCSE Certifications preferred
- Masters Degree preferred
