POSITION DETAILS:

You should have come up from the Infrastructure side and have knowledge of IP VPN (Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network) Service that is based on an RFC 4364-compliant Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) data transport service. It provides for private IP connectivity between access circuits that are defined to be within the same VPN on the network as well as other offerings. You will manage the Network Engineering groups' day to day operations. This position is responsible for the expansion, administration, maintenance, of customers' network equipment, MPBGP MPLS infrastructure, and complex management infrastructure.



Responsible for design deployment, oversight and operational support of our customer systems. Responsible for the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the processes and procedures of the group, templating, ensuring specific metrics are met and providing related reporting.



You will interact with other managers and the Chief Network Architect on solutions as defined, and be responsible for breaking out detailed tasks, planning and managing resources as required. You will have as diverse a background, preferably working through operations, engineering, project management, solutions engineering, managing and maintaining a productive team. A desirable level of networking knowledge and diversity, but is not expected to be Architect level.



Development of formal procedures and to peer with other groups that are formulating similar processes and procedures. Many procedures exist informally, and need to be properly documented. The current group is growing and consists of differing skill sets and levels. This team is currently motivated and empowered. They are used to a distributed, contributory environment that is always challenging. The successful manager will enter the role attempting to maintain this level of participation, giving technical people purpose, and a sense that they are contributing and making a difference. At the same time, there is a fine balance between participatory contribution and inefficiency that must be managed.



This position will work closely with the Chief Network Architect on defined strategy and new infrastructure for the existing architecture strategy. Other responsibilities will include: maintaining network hardware for the production networks; monitoring network performance; network and operational staff metrics; resource capacity planning; and management of individual resource task delegation with the ability to generate reports/documentation, providing communication of status and capacity at all times.



CANDIDATE MUST HAVE:

3+ yrs exp in a supervisory/management role focusing on network service and support delivery, with demonstrated skills and ability to motivate a diverse, skilled team of network professionals.

Team centric, with ability to work in a cross-matrix management and resource environment.

Ability to work in a small/medium size company with a Can Do/Get it done mentality.

Ability to perform project scheduling, escalation, and deployment

Budgeting, provisioning, reporting and metrics

Advanced understanding of routing protocols, specifically BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, ISIS, MPBGP MPLS, QOS; Network Management Software and concepts

Cisco routers and switches (2600, 2900, 3500, 3600, 7200, 650X, 3700, 3800)

Provisioning of TDM loops including T1,E1, and DS3

PLUSES (the following skills/experience highly desired):

Experience with Juniper WAN internetworking products (M/T Series) preferred

Cisco CCIE
