BASIC FUNCTION:
As part of M&T's Business Continuity Management division the Staff Specialist would perform and oversee basic to complex business continuity analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct and monitor junior resources, plus coordinate tasks on small to large scope projects
Participates with technology leads, LOB management and staff, and vendors in overall business continuity plan (technical and business) analysis, development and implementation
Evaluates and understands complex interrelationships between technologies, business functions, and external influences to business continuity management
Prepares thorough and clear specifications, and maintains project and process documentation
Prepares and reviews assessments to include required tasks, estimated time frames and effort for any scope project
Recommends new technology, policies or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. May lead or participate in evaluations of vendor solutions
Performs other related duties or projects as required
Follows and promotes the use of corporate standards and procedures
Maintains a good understanding of the business being supported and its functions, processes, operations and strategic direction
May assist in developing expense and capital budgets
Monitors employee performance and may prepare annual appraisal
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Two to four years college
Eight years experience supporting business continuity or disaster recovery functions
Complete understanding of project management and system development life cycle
Proficient in business continuity planning systems
Work experience in programming or computer operations, both open and mainframe computer systems
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, business or emergency management
Certified Business Continuity Professional
Knowledge of LDRPS
Experience in emergency response operations
Experience in data base management and design
Experience with availability services vendors including contract negotiations and schedule maintenance
