Traffic Manager in NEW YORK, NY

The Traffic Manager must be highly driven to succeed, well organized, and have exceptional communication and motivational skills. Oversee the workflow and amount of the daily work assigned to groups.

Reports to the Advertising Director.

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with clients, Buyers, Product Specialists and team leads to intelligently forecast and schedule projects as well as resources.
• Manage and train the Traffic Coordinator in the daily routine of routing materials and SOP’s of the department.
• Conduct traffic meetings involving personnel from all relevant groups and departments.
• Address the needs and issues of the team leads.
• Report to the Director of Advertising with proposed changes for approval.
• Help maintain overall productivity and quality control.
• Assist in refining production processes, workflows and standards.
• Help identify potential production issues and elevate them to the Director of Advertising.
o Internal production/traffic issues are the joint responsibility of the Traffic Manager and the team leads.
o On external issues regarding other departments, the Director of Advertising will direct the Traffic Manager on the correct course of action.
• Review project proposals for feasibility along with the Director of Advertising and the Art Director.
• Develop, maintain and adhere to schedules for catalog.
• Traffic and monitor internal assets (design, copy, photography) to insure all internal metrics are met.
• Traffic pre and post file release.
• Monitor all tracking reports and working documents.

Experience: Skills:
• Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of InDesign, Quark, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and the creative process

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or related experience.
• At least 7 years experience in catalog and print production trafficking.
• Must have knowledge of print production processes.
• Great written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to strictly adhere to a process.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Highly self-motivated and a willingness to work as long as it takes to get the job done right.
• Ability to motivate others.

Milestones:
• The top priority is to set-up a central calendar with accurate projections and scheduling.
• Help evaluate and implement appropriate procedures and workflows based on the needs and issues of the team leads.
• Together with the Director of Advertising and the team leads, develop integrated production processes, supported by a new generation of technology and software.
• Achieve greater quality and efficiency within the trafficking process.
• Create an effective up-to-date approval system.
• Establish procedures and documents to enhance project “intake” process.
• Garner support and trust from clients and other departments.
• Support department’s vision and goals.
