JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Network Engineer/Architect is responsible for the design and implementation of Lava's Network Architecture. Additionally, the candidate will take a lead role in managing major network initiatives, designs, and deployments as well as coordinating technical issues with clients, vendors, and internal teams. The position reports directly to the Head of Network Engineering PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
. Provide network designs and innovative technical solutions based on business and technical requirements.
. Create, coordinate, and execute implementation plans.
. Provide expert level troubleshooting.
. Provide leadership and mentoring to Jr. Engineers.
. Provide detailed and effective communication to internal and external clients.
Experience with designing and maintaining large cabling infrastructure. (Structured and Unstructured)
Experience with developing complex network design documents and presentations (PowerPoint and Visio)
Experience: experience with Cisco Internetworking Equipment and Software (CCIE a plus) Experience developing complex network designs and solutions for both enterprise and ASP Networks. Experience with a wide range of WAN/LAN Network Topologies (TDM, IMA, Optical, D(C)WDM, Ethernet, SONET, Wireless) Expert Knowledge of IP networking ( NAT, IP subnetting, etc) Experience with implementing and integrating Routing Protocols (RIP EIGRP/BGP - Primary) (OSPF/IGRP - Secondary,)Expert Knowledge of Layer 2 & 3 Switching. Working knowledge of Internet routing (BGP), DNS, and security. Experience with Network Based Load Balancing (Foundry Experience a Plus) Working knowledge of network management tools (Ciscoworks, HPOV, etc) General understanding of network security (Netscreen Experience a plus) Understanding of layered network designs and hierarchal network infrastructure models.
