Essential Functions

. Serve as Database Administrator for Oracle Applications environment and other Oracle (10g) systems. Patch and clone databases as required. Install and configure Oracle Applications modules and Applications Server modules.
. Develop data design elements in coordination with the information systems plan. Assist in technical support of integrated database design.
. Analyze database performance, reorganize database as needed, monitor current and projected database disk space usage, develop reliable and timely backup, export and upgrade procedures. Provide after hours support as needed.
. Supervise database design elements of the development of applications. Work closely with vendors and contracted staff to evaluate software upgrades for their effect on database integrity and performance.
. Enforce guidelines that result in orderly development of the database. Define database structures. Develop and document standards for access, control, updating, and maintenance of databases.
. Create and maintain descriptors for data, users, and resources. Conduct database training. Provide database support for software applications developers. Provide resources to assist users in data retrieval techniques.
. Monitor and restrict access to unauthorized users.
. Consult with systems developers on procedures related to database. Assist application development teams as needed to guide database issues. Consult with system programming section on issues such as placement of data on volumes and performance standards.
. Establish and maintain procedures for review and control of all requests for additions and deletions to the central database.

Prerequisites
. Bachelors degree in business, computer science, or related technical field.
. Minimum six years of information technology processing experience, three of which must have been in an Oracle Database Administrator or equivalent position. Additional experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
. Or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
. General Ledger DB experience
. Business Objects experience
Selection Criteria
. Knowledge of Database Administration tools and techniques.
. Knowledge of Oracle Applications Database Administration utilities, patching procedures and cloning techniques.
. Practical knowledge of structured program development techniques.
. Knowledge of standard operating environments: Sun Solaris and Windows 2000/2003.
. Knowledge of network and database technologies and protocols: APPC, DRDA, Internet/Intranet, ODBC, SQL*Net, JDBC, and TCP/IP.
. Demonstrated ability with Risc or Intel-based microcomputer hardware and Agency Standard software products.
. Skilled in all phases of the automated systems development life cycle, with emphasis on defining end user requirements and program design and development.
. Skilled in Relational Database technology theory, design, development, and access using SQL or PL/SQL in an Oracle environment.
Behavior Characteristics:
Skilled in written and oral communications; ability to communicate effectively and work effectively with all levels of staff in the organizational structure.

BS Business, Computer Science or related Required Experience: Senior Level Oracle DBA (10g/Sun Solaris) Design, create, and maintain Oracle Applications databases and other Oracle databases. Complete Description: Develop and maintain database schemas in coordination with application programming staff. The selected candidate will be responsible for quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Insure the availability, security, and efficiency of data and database systems through system backup, reorganization, and tuning procedures. Work with management to develop database strategies to support company needs. Consult with and advise users on access to various Oracle databases.
