A major publisher of financial periodicals is seeking a Web Applications Developer to create applications and provide support for a variety of business applications, primarily commercial web sites. This individual will develop/implement solutions within agreed time frames, with adherence to quality, understand/investigate and document business issues. This also includes working with colleagues to identify, understand, and documentation possible solutions.
Job Responsibilities
. Implementation of web new features, based on functional specifications and requirements from business owners and other members of the Business Systems Team.
. Timely deployment of new features and follow-up to ensure their success.
. Maintain performance and reliability of Group Web Sites. This is accomplished by ensuring quality of changes made to the sites and by responding quickly when problems arise.
. Adherence to existing coding, documentation, and testing standards and participating in discussions to improve these standards.
. Identification of technical innovations which improve quality and efficiency of Group web sites.

. Expert knowledge of web services platforms and languages (Oracle, Solaris, ColdFusion, Java, IIS, Windows).
. 3-5 years experience in software development.
. Understanding of the Project Framework and other Group standards.
Working knowledge of various integration options used to share functionality with applications that are both internal and external to the business.
. Familiarity with web application architectures. Must have basic understanding of protocols used in web applications.
. Must have working understanding of design, development, and debugging tools used to develop, debug, and monitor web based applications.
. Technical: C/C++ or Java; ColdFusion, PERL, Python, TCL, Windows 2000 Server, Solaris, and Linux. Working knowledge of SQL, hands-on experience with dynamic database driven pages, and experience with content management and publishing systems.
