BASIC FUNCTION:As part of M&T’s Technology Division, the Systems Manager would recommend designs based on business requirements.  Identifies issues and concerns and makes recommendations for new technology, policies and processes to benefit the organization and improve deficienciesRESPONSIBILITIES:  Typically will lead technical evaluations of vendor software.Completes status reports and must be able to present projects, status or activities to senior management.Demonstrates a strong understanding of the business environment and needs within the area of responsibility.  Ability to understand technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problem.  Responsible for the job growth and career development of staff members by providing training plans, guidance and sharing knowledge.Responsible for performance appraisals, promotion and salary recommendations.Recommends and initiates new policies and procedures, which will improve the performance and effectiveness of the department.Consults with client management in the analysis of short and long-range business requirements and recommends innovations that anticipate the future impact of changing business requirements.  Responsible for building a positive client relationship.Builds rapport within the organization. Develops a professional level of communication and cooperation. Maintains relationships with vendors and professional organizations.Responsible for implementing technology consistent with division's standards and long range plans. Ensures adherence to all department and technology standards and procedures, including all documentation requirements.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.Experience with financial applicationsBachelors degree or above or 5 years + work experience in a technical environment.  Experience working on a project team utilizing systems development methodology and structured project management framework.Application software and architecture background/knowledgeLeadership and management experience with teams of 5 or more individuals.IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:Experience with the skills, application(s) and function of the technology area being ledUnderstanding of Banking or financial industryPrior banking experience preferred
