One of SGA's major financial clients is looking for a Trading Application Support/Analyst in New York, NY for a long-term contract position. The right person must have strong experience in Trading Systems Support, SQL and Perl/Shell scripting.
Responsibilities include:

Provide application support and interface with the IT team locally. Also work with the front office and operations users
Field support calls and emails from client facing representatives in New York. Investigation /resolution of these calls will involve an understanding of the systems supported as well as the underlying business concepts and the flow of trade and financial data
Log support calls as they come in and follow through to affect problem resolution
First level of problem resolution for client facing application that supports numerous clients trading operations working with multiple application teams and data providers
Analyze issues, understand the business and processes impacted, suggest and document solutions, and suggest and log changes to development team
Requirements:

Excellent experience working effectively in a production support group of a large global financial service enterprise
Solid basic financial knowledge of Securities Industry (Equity and / or Fixed Income). Prime Brokerage experience is a big plus
Solid understanding of front to back life cycle of a trade including booking, clearing, settlement, and reporting
Experience in working with Operations and Business users/traders
Solid SQL skills (Sybase / Oracle); ability to assess existing stored procedures and discuss possible issues with development teams.
Good Unix / NT (command line language for monitoring) and Scripting (Shell, Perl) skills
Should have a development background and be comfortable working across a range of systems and technologies
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to articulate complex concepts effectively to business users/technologists at all levels and to be able to liaise remotely with other support teams and developers. Must be able to effectively communicate via the phone.
Must demonstrate the ability to analyze/understand complex problems, make sound technical decisions/recommendations, and communicate solutions in a proactive manner
Support demanding users from either in a development or support perspective with proven ability to handle pressure
Proven experience of multitasking activities, being able to priorities and follow through on tasks
