Description Our client, a major global financial services provider engaged in retail and commercial banking, is seeking a Java/Web Services Developer. Location: New York Permanent position Main Function Client Research Technology is looking for a Java/SQL Server/Linux developer to enhance Client publishing systems, web-based content and analytical tools. This position in the Research IT group will offer the opportunity to participate in all phases of the development process and make a significant contribution to the success of the department. Main Duties Successful candidates will: Design and implement enhancements to our publishing systems, research archives, and client web sites Exercise technology leadership - optimize performance, reliability, scalability and extensibility Experience all aspects of the project life-cycle, from design and development to routine support. Code in every area: Front End GUI development, mid-tier applications services, and Back End database, server configuration, and Scripting work. Person Requirements Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, should be able to multitask and switch gears quickly 3+ years of experience in Java (J2EE, XML/XSL, Web Services) Relational database system - relational design, optimization, depth of understanding. Linux/Solaris experience and Web Server (Apache) and Enterprise Application Servers (Weblogic/JBoss) experience HTML/JavaScript/AJAX , Flex a plus Experience with Open Source technologies such as Spring and Hibernate a plus Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment Good communication skills - you will work directly with many parts of the business.
