Software Technical Specialist

Our client, a leading global financial software firm is looking to hire a Software Technical Specialist for their New York Office. This position will be joining an existing team that interfaces with external clients on a regular basis. No Travel is required. In this role, you will be self-motivated, think for yourself, take advantage of opportunities offered, ask for and provide explanations, manage deliverables and timeframes, and help out members of own team and other teams.

Responsibilities Include:
- Work with clients throughout the whole development lifecycle, including pre-sale, system presentation, installation, implementation, training, updates, etc.
- Take responsibility for training clients to ensure autonomy in the setting of parameters and product functionalities.
- Carry-out pre-defined tasks to ensure client satisfaction and build products and services.
- Diagnose technical and functional situations by closely analyzing the situation, establishing links, and acting accordingly.
- Support client within own scope of responsibility - development, testing, corrective measures, and improvement.
- Maintain constant written and verbal communication with clients and team members.
- Monitor deadlines and priorities, clarity and precision of documentation, and quality and rigorousness of testing.
- Write and distribute technical and functional documentation.
- Complete project planning and support activities.
- Act autonomously in the boundaries set by manager.
- Conduct a self assessment in any given situation.
- Become aware of own limitations and capabilities, ask for explanations, build knowledge.
- Become be a key player in own career development.

Experience: Required Experience/Skills:
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics.
- 2 to 4 years of customer service and support experience.
- Strong C/C++/JAVA Programming Language experience.
- Strong UNIX / Linux Operating Systems experience.
- SQL/Database experience.
- Coding skills.
- Software and system design skills.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Absolute passion for computing.

Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Oracle, Sybase, Shellscript, XML, ANT.
- An understanding of financial markets.
- Experience with all aspects of the development lifecycle.
- Software architecture knowledge and experience.
- Fluency in Spanish.
