A well known financial services company based out of New York City is looking for an SQL Engineer.
The open position is focused around delivering platform-oriented software components out of the MSSQL database area. Target platforms for MSSQL databases are Windows.
- Collaboration in engineering MS/SQL Server 2008 on Windows Server 2008/2008 R2
- Improvement and Standards-Maintenance for MS/SQL Server 2005 and 2008 on Windows Server 2003
- Development and Improvement of in-house Scripts used by DB Operations based on Perl and VB.NET
- Collaborate with peer Technology teams (e.g. Windows Engineering) on Virtualization and DB Clusters
- Collaborate with peer Technology teams (e.g. Systems Management) to Improve monitoring and maintenance concepts for database installations on large platforms
- Contribute to security baselines, patch- and vulnerability policies and lifecycle management guidelines
- Analyze, improve and develop Perl scripts used by DB Operations
- Integrate tightly into the working processes of global DB Engineering, Platform Development and Provisioning
- Collaborate with DB Operations and provide 3rd level support on request
Experience: WORK EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:
Essential:
- Proven MSSQL DB Operations or Engineering skills
- Working experience on standardized large environments
- Working experience in large financial organizations
- Problem Solving and Cross-Technical Integration
Desirable:
- Work Experience in International Teams
- Windows System Administration
- Exposure to Application Server software
- Perl or .Net Debugging, Testing
TECHNICAL/BUSINESS SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Essential:
- MSSQL 2008
- MSSQL 2005 (4+ years)
- Experience with MSSQL on Microsoft Clusters
- Experience with MSSQL in virtualized environments
- Perl or C# scripting (2+ years)
Desirable:
- VB.Net scripting (1+ years)
- Experience with BMC Performance Manager (patrol)
- Experience with Cloakware
- Sybase and Oracle experience
