Our client is a global hedge fund and they are looking for a highly motivated and confident Desktop Support Engineer to join their global infrastructure team. A strong technical infrastructure background in the areas of Helpdesk/Desktop Support, Server, and Network is required. Excellent communication and customer skills are a must. The candidate will provide hands-on, face-to-face technical support to the NY office and must have the ability to build relationships, work with users on a daily basis.



The ability to understand, analyze and research technical solutions to users requirements and problems using existing and emerging technologies will also be a large part of the technicians responsibilities. Maintaining efficient and professional service, responding quickly and courteously in a sometimes-stressful environment will be key. Some overtime & weekend working will be required from time to time.



Essential Technical Experience:



A minimum of 5 years technical IT experience:



- Strong technical background in Windows 2000/XP (MCSE and CCNA an advantage), Outlook & Exchange 2000/2003, MS Office

- Minimum of 3 years experience or Solid technical background in Windows 2000/2003 Server, Active Directory, Exchange 2000/2003, Cisco Networking, and Citrix Metaframe 4.0

- Full Desktop management from rollout to post implementation support

- Monitoring and supporting the desktop, server, and network environments

- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to multi-task & adapt to changing priorities quickly

- Networking experience (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

- Ghost or other desktop imaging platform

- PDAs (Blackberry, Good, or Windows Mobile)



Desirable Technical Experience:



- Video Conferencing (Tandberg)

- Cisco Call Manager (VoIP)

- Cisco Routers, Switches, and firewalls

- Veritas Backup Exec

- Support of remote access (Cisco VPN)



Desirable Non-Technical Experience:



- Excellent communication, client relationship, & team building skills

- A self-starter, who is able to work independently, is well organized, and detail oriented

- Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity experience

- Enforcement of policies, processes, and procedures

- An aptitude and methodical approach to administrative tasks

- Analyzing complex functions, procedures, and problems to find logical and effective solutions

- Experience in supporting a multi-site and highly mobile workforce
