Description Our client, one of the largest financial services firms, is seeking a Environment Management Analyst.Type of position: ContractDuration: 6 monthsLocation: New York , NY Responsibilities: Tools - Establish a strategic roadmap for the Support Toolkit to track issues, monitoring, alerting and knowledge share. Implement or build that toolset Documentation - Continuously keep the Knowledge Share repository up to date. Publish Monthly Prod Issue Trends Production Environment & Releases - Coordinate Releases and User Checkouts. Implement a process to communicate production Releases Trouble Shooting - Trouble shoot production issues via debugging code particularly Java, reviewing log files, running DB queries, etc. Bounce processes via AutoSys Monitoring & Alerts - Monitor Production Environment for Alerts (ie Memory Utilization, App Exception Alerts, etc) Communication/Notifications of Active Production Issues - Alert Users/Mgmt/Larger Tech Population of Production Issues. Play 'Traffic Cop' Role in making sure updates flow seamlessly to Users, Mgmt, etc. Coordinate & Chair Conf Calls during production Issues Ad-Hoc Requests - Run Ad-Hoc DB Queries Skills Required: Prior experience supporting Real Time trading system Working knowledge of Fixed Income products. Knowledge of Municipal securities is a plus. Ability to write SQL (MSSQL and Sybase) and Unix and Linux Shell Scripts Prior experience with Platform Monitoring Tools Department Scope: Position will be one of two environment management specialists reporting directly to the manager of Municipal Securities Support. This support team is part of Municipal Securities technologies which is part of Global Markets technology. Besides Environment Management, support consists of two level 1 specialists and four level 2 specialists. Department Roles and Responsibilities: Municipal Securities Support team is responsible for direct business end-user support for the entire Municipal Securities division as well as maintenance of all environments. Heavy interaction with Technology Infrastructure, Database Administration teams. Will have interaction (on a need basis) with CATE teams. Job Description: The main purpose of the role: To support projects relating to platform consolidation (application and database servers). Develop standards for each environment and assist technology teams to host their applications in these new environments. Provide analytical support related to systems and processes to ensure optimal production availability/supportability. Project requires enterprise level coordination, communication, influence and negotiation. Main day-to-day activities of the position: Develop and maintain: Standards for application deployment and hosting, Standards for database hosting. Optimize current databases and interdependencies and monitor changes to ensure compliance to standards, Work directly with development teams to: Migrate to new application and database standards, Ensure on-going development adheres to all standards (corporate and division), Assist with all external group/vendor dependencies. Goals and objectives: Develop and maintain environments that are optimally supportable. Assist development team in maintaining applications that are optimally supportable. Key relationships (internal/external customers, vendors, etc.): Development managers and leaders, Desktop and Server SA's, Database Administrators, CATE, External data providing vendors (Bloomberg, TMC, etc.). Required Experience: Technical/business knowledge, experience, and skills (certifications, programming languages, etc.): Strong UNIX System Admin skills Strong Sybase/SQL skills Knowledge of BEA Weblogic (application hosting and tuning) Experience over the full software development lifecycle Non-technical knowledge, experience, and skills (leadership, management, oral and/or written communication, etc.) Project management experience Very Strong written and oral communication skills Educational requirements: Four year college degree required (BS in Computer Science or related field) Strong writing skills (able to develop standards and proposal documents) Able to communicate technical issues with the development teams and be able to come with solutions
