Job DescriptionPosition: Sr EvaluatorLocation: New York, NYLength: Full TimeSalary: DOEThe primary responsibility of this position will be to evaluate complex Municipal bond securities on a daily basis. Evaluations represent our good faith opinion as to what a buyer in the marketplace would pay for a security in a current sale. The process entails the assessment of municipal bond market trading conditions via trade activity, newly priced deals, bid/wanted and offer listings, and market sector contacts. Once assessed, the conditions are used as inputs into security evaluation models to determine an opinion of value. Model inputs also consider issuer secondary market material events including issuer credit quality actions and issuer or project financial reportingThe applicant must have the ability to facilitate the evaluation process while supporting time critical evaluation inquires and customer challenges. Thorough knowledge of current municipal market conditions and trends is essential. The ability to work within a credit sensitive market sector facilitating the evaluations on bonds with transitional credit quality is required. Thorough knowledge of the municipal high yield, distressed and defaulted sector is preferred. Key Responsibilities: Maintain regular contact with market makers, brokers, dealers, buy-side firms, and analysts to gather information on current trades, bid-wanted lists, and offerings, along with general information on market movement, direction, trends, and specific data on specialty issues.Use software tools to build internal yield curves based on bellwether issues, established trading spreads between similar issuers or credits, historical trading spreads over market benchmarks, new issue scales, and verified bid information received from clients.Assess underlying issue credit quality based on Analyst reports, material events and financial filings.Support quality and compliance control objectives and procedures involving the evaluation process.Extensive customer contactProvide input and direction to the evaluation teamBasic Minimum Qualifications:A minimum of five years experience in Fixed Income markets, with a focus on municipal bondsBackgrounds ranging from trading and sales to underwriting, credit analysis and researchAbility to facilitate superior client relationshipsAbility to perform sector or issue analysis and determine changes in trading patternsExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work in a time critical environment, multi-task and prioritize workloadPC literate, knowledgeable in Windows, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
