Position: Software EngineerLocation: White Plains, NYLength: PermSalary: DOEThe Senior Software Engineer is responsible for full project life-cycle activities, from initial analysis through production support. Responsibilities will include: Analyze/evaluate product requirements for software applications by working with technical & product maangers; develop detailed specificationsIdentify priorities and plan technical tasks; provide accurate and reliable estimates for project tasksApplication development, customization and integration of workDesign, code and unit test the applicationsMaintain/modify existing software applications with periodic releasesCreate test plans and test tools; support testing and address on-line bug reports/issuesAddress client support issuesDocument applications for technical white papers, user guides and operations guideProvide guidance/mentoring to less experienced team membersMay lead some project-specific teams Experience and Skills:To be considered for this position, candidates must have the following:C/C++ programming - 5 years minimumcore Java programming - 5 years minimumStrong familiary with Linux Shell scriptingExperience with Apache/TomcatExperience with MySql, Oracle or other relational databases with Back End experienceIn depth knowledge of Linux or Unix operating systemsProficient in CVS (version control)Confidence with SQL commandsCompetency in Word and ExcelExperience developing and maintaining project plansIn addition, exposure to Perl is a plus, as is experience working in the financial data industry.
