Compensation shall be commensurate with skills and experience; targeted between the $55,000 and $65,000 range.


Job Description

The Senior Network Engineer is principally responsible for installing LANs and networking technologies for clients, and training and supporting clients and their networks. The Senior Network Engineer configures the equipment and software to meet client business needs, trains the customer on the solution, and documents the solution for ongoing support. The Senior Network Engineer can function as part of an implementation team on larger projects, or individually provides the services on support visits or smaller projects. The Senior Network Engineer may also provide technical support to the sales staff and assist with the design of LAN-based solutions.
Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality services to clients, including configuration of servers, workstations and internetworking equipment on servers and workstations. Ensure technical excellence in service delivery to maximize billable time and customer satisfaction and to minimize non-billable time.

Submit time sheets promptly, thoroughly and accurately, with appropriate breakdown of billable time by activity, to ensure company profitability and meet billed utilization goals for the position.

Provide remote and on-site support to customers, independently troubleshooting technical problems by analyzing the problem and applying a scientific methodology to resolve the problem promptly and cost-effectively. This includes resolution of complex problems escalated by the Network Operations Center.

Effectively communicate with clients and staff. Build a good working relationship with the client, ensure an understanding of the client's needs and objectives, and involve the client in cost/risk decisions. Follow internal communications guidelines and workflows.

Follow procedures to deliver services in an organized, effective manner to ensure customers perceive QTS to be thorough, well-prepared and punctual. Take ownership of issues and show professionalism and control.

Develop and maintain a broad background in core technology offerings, to ensure high quality coverage and skill depth for clients. Adapt to and quickly learn new technologies and products.

Implement projects as assigned by the Director, Customer Services.

Assist in Managing a team of Engineers and Technicians

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree is required.

3+ years' technical experience with IBM PC-compatible hardware and software installation and troubleshooting is required. 2+ years' experience with Windows 2000 and/or 2003 Servers is required. Experience with Cisco Firewalls, routers and switches. Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, Internet connectivity, DNS, and Wide Area Networks. Macintosh experience is a plus.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems with speed and efficiency is required.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are required.

Experience in technical project management and demonstrated ability to take a project through all phases of implementation as well as post-implementation follow-up is highly desirable.

Experience in leading a technical project team, staff training and/or supervision is highly desirable.
