Mainframe Systems Programmer in Rochester, NY

Our client has an immediate need for a Senior Mainframe Programmer responsible for the planning, design, programming, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of complex, technically oriented, and sensitive mainframe program applications. As a Senior Mainframe Programmer, your responsibilities would include the following:

• Writing, debugging, coding and documenting programs.
• Generating and completing data reports, and verifying integrity of the data.
• Conducting financial/accounting year-end closing process with accounting/payroll departments.
• Generating all payroll w-2’s, 1099, w-4 and other tax related information.
• Developing computer programs for input and retrieval of physical data.
• Composing programs including documentation for classification, indexing, input, storage and retrieval of data and facts, displaying devices and interfacing with other systems equipment.
• Devising sample input data to test accuracy of program and observing or running test of programs.
• System evaluations: troubleshooting and correcting program errors by alternating program steps and sequence.
• Maintaining all Mainframe programs, report generation and data integrity.
• Conferring with departments to resolve questions or program intent.
• Consulting with departments in regard to input data acquisition, time sharing, output requirements, coding use and modifications.
• Completing internal checks and controls for system integrity.
• Acquainting and training employees on new and current applications.
• Creating user profiles and grants access to the system as required.
• Reporting to the Director of Information Technology

Experience: To be considered for this position, the incumbent must possess the following:
&#149; Thorough knowledge of IBM AS400 Operating System.
&#149; Thorough knowledge of RPG III programming.
&#149; Familiarity with financial and accounting practices
&#149; The ability to work in a fast paced environment.
&#149; Good organizational and communication skills.
&#149; Good interpersonal skills.
