BASIC FUNCTION:
As part of M&T's Technology and Banking Operations division, the Project Manager would provide interface between IT and various business areas of the Bank for project and non-project related tasks. Most notable this position will provide need/impact assessment and Project Management of Technology Infrastructure teams and components for internal projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the development of project plans for any scope effort to include activities to be performed, estimated time frame and effort.
Ensures adherence to all current project methodology standards and procedures, including all documentation requirements.
Reviews business requirements and may assist in translating requirements. May provide analytical support to other team members and client groups in defining system requirements.
Directs the development of test plans and scripts; coordinates the completion of integrated testing efforts.
Directs and monitors resources; ensures completion of schedules.
Provides input to managers for performance appraisals based upon project participants' performance.
Recognizes technical, business and operational impacts of a project. Brings issues to resolution and escalates issues or concerns to the Project Sponsor.
Reviews project assessments and prepares initial project costs; tracks actual costs during the life of a project.
Schedules and facilitates project meetings, publishes meeting minutes, tracks impact and issue documents.
Effectively communicates and develops a professional level of cooperation across the organization.
Initiates or participates in the request for proposal process, including vendor management.
The incumbent is responsible for the overall coordination and management of any scope technology effort, which could include BAU, discretionary, conversion or system release projects.
The Project Manager may be called upon to serve as a technology representative on committees, ad-hoc projects, etc.
The Project Manager will be responsible for staff management of Project Analysts that are associated with the applications the team supports.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of two to four year's college with at least seven years experience in project related work, systems analysis and a systems development environment. 
Experience on large system enhancements, conversions and production problem resolution.
Requires a complete understanding of a project life cycle methodology and of the Bank's enterprise architecture.
Requires familiarity with application development support software and hardware platforms
General knowledge of personal computers and the ability to effectively use word processing, spreadsheet and internal mail/scheduling software.
Must possess time management and organization skills.
Detail oriented, self-motivated; takes initiative to learn new skills and enhance overall knowledge.
Able to work effectively with personnel in various organizational positions.
Able to handle multiple tasks in support of various assignments concurrently.
Requires strong judgment and excellent project management skills
Asserts ideas, encourages teamwork and acts as a role model when leading and directing others
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or above preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present to the target audience.
An understanding of multiple business area's functions is preferred.
Demonstrates a good understanding of the business area's functions and operational processes.
Demonstrates a high aptitude for complex problem analysis and resolution.
Understands development processes and technical concepts.
Ability to lead or actively participate in vendor demonstrations, project presentations, design sessions, Functional Specification walk throughs.
Keeps abreast of the Bank's business plan and strategic objectives.
Understands the purpose and employs the use of a work breakdown structure, critical paths and Gantt charts, as well as other tracking reports.
